Visit the Art Intersection
Art Intersection encourages creative individuals to take their work to the next level through programs and facilities in which they learn, create, and exhibit. Three galleries showcase art from emerging and established artists and a workplace is available for individuals to create their own art. If you need a black and white darkroom, to use Photoshop or Lightroom, or to make large digital prints, the facility is available; and, Art Intersection even offers 1-on-1 tutorials.
The space is also available for groups to hold events. Art and photography groups can even use the lab for workshops and lectures.
Patrons enjoy the Gallery 4
Gallery 4 is an extension of Art Intersection, but with a different mission. Exhibitions and programs in Gallery 4 invite the viewer to engage in personal reflection and conversation regarding social, environmental, and cultural topics. Artists presenting work in Gallery 4 intend to provoke thinking and stimulate dialogue for the exchange of ideas as well as community engagement.

See Gilbert’s 9-11 Memorial
Gilbert is home to a powerful 9/11 Memorial that pays tribute to the lives lost during the worst act of terrorism on American soil. The memorial features an 8-foot steel girder beam that once held up the North Tower of the World Trade Center. Four granite walls feature the names of those lost in the attacks. The memorial rests on a pentagon shape and is surrounded by bricks, some of which have messages from donors and can be found at the Municipal buildings at 50 E. Civic Center Drive.
Plan a Visit to the Gilbert Historical Museum
With a vast collection of vintage artifacts, photographs, oral histories, and archives, the Gilbert Historical Museum is a great place to step back in time and discover the life of Western United States settlers. New multi-generational programs begin September 2016. History Cafes, Storytellers, gardening workshops as well as seasonal workshops make the Gilbert Historical Museum a "must stop" for residents and visitors. Check out all of the programs at their website.
Did you have a chance to view Brian Korsedal's INFLUX art on the front lawn of the Gilbert Heritage Museum? If you missed it, stay tuned for next year's installation. INFLUX brings together art, economic development, and property management organizations throughout the greater Phoenix area to provide opportunities for Arizona artists to create site-specific temporary public art installations in a wide variety of locations.
INFLUX provides unique project opportunities for artists to expand their skills, innovatively apply their creativity, and garner public recognition for their work. INFLUX offers new perspective on the connections between community organizations, city governments, local businesses, artists, and audiences.
The INFLUX initiative, currently operated through the strategic partnership of eleven organizations in Chandler, Glendale, Gilbert, Mesa, Phoenix, Scottsdale, and Tempe was launched by Scottsdale Public Art in 2010 as an initiative for temporary installations in vacant storefronts. The initiative has since continued to expand and gain momentum since its inception, increasing its positive impact on our local communities and our Arizona artists.
We are so happy to have Brian Korsedal's artwork
Don’t Miss the Gilbert Mural
Participants of Gilbert Leadership Class XXI unveiled their community project which includes an art mural painted on the south-facing wall of the American Legion Merrill Mitchell Post 39 and an open space improvement with park features in the once-vacant lot immediately south of the mural. The mural depicts the Town of Gilbert during the World War I era, circa 1917, with the exception of the “Gilbert” sign, which was later added across Gilbert Road in the early 1930s. To further enhance the project, a plaque has been created to explain the significance of the site and was incorporated in the Heritage District History Walk.
